Damn. So the pain down the back of my left thigh appears to be a hamstring strain. So, in order to make sure I don't do myself any long-term damage -and- I've got a fighting change of training properly soon, I'm laying off running and weight training for a good few days.
Bit of a bugger as it means I get to eat less and it throws out my eating plan for the rest of this week at least. And I've had to reschedule my first PT session with my new trainer for next Friday rather than this Friday. Bah.
I am consoling myself with a skinny caramel macchiato and will aim just to stay within maintenance kcals for the rest of the week rather than any deficit. And this afternoon, I'm booked in for a deep tissue massage to help things on their way to mending. (expect whining about how much that hurts later ;o))
Ouch! I twanged my hamstring once and it's flipping painful! Hope it feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, hon; I'm just worried it'll hit my triathlon training! If it's not feeling better in a couple of days, I'll go see if I can get some physio advice.
ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely see how it goes over the next day or two and if it doesn't improve, see someone sooner rather than later

Rest. It's one of the most annoying things about recovering from any injury. You wake up one morning and think "yeah I could do that". You do it and then you're given a harsh yet well-timed reminder.
ReplyDeleteSo don't do as I do. Do I say gently say. Forget running. Just for now. Focus on something entirely different. ;)
thoroughlygood: you are absolutely right there. So, I'm deliberately taking my gym kit and trainers out of my work bag, so I -have- to rest. I almost managed to give my trainers away today to a poor girl who lost a shoe getting on the tube! (offered her my trainers to get home, but she was going out somewhere and said she'd have to buy some shoes on the way - I tried!)
